FAQ

We have provided responses to the most frequently asked questions below, which we hope you find helpful:

Why should I choose Motorlogix?
We're a well-known and respected company, with over 25 years experience in the UK vehicle market and pride ourselves on giving you a professional, helpful and friendly service. We are a Limited Company, are VAT Registered and are also Consumer Credit Licensed. Since Motorlogix began trading in 2002 many of our customers have written to us with words of thanks which you'll find on the customer feedback page. Furthermore you'll regularly find us recommended by most of the major motoring magazines such as WhatCar? and Top Gear.

Will my car be an import?
No, we do not sell imported vehicles. All our cars are UK-sourced and have been supplied via UK Franchised Main Dealers. They will therefore be supplied to full UK specification with a full UK Warranty.

What is the difference between a new and pre-registered vehicle?
On some makes and models we can obtain better discounts by offering our customers new cars sold on a pre-registered basis. Pre-registered vehicles may be supplied either directly by a Franchised Dealer or via a Corporate Supplier approved by us. These vehicles will be new, UK-sourced and as such are supplied to full UK specification with their appropriate Manufacturer's Warranty. Pre-registered vehicles will be supplied with delivery mileage only. Customers purchasing a pre-registered vehicle will normally become the vehicle's second registered keeper on the vehicle's V5 Registration Document (Log Book).

Can I part-exchange my current car?
Although we do not actively promote a part-exchange service many of our Dealers can facilitate a part-exchange for you. You will need to provide full details of your car to them (or via us) and they will go out into the trade to get a bid for your car. Ordinarily they will give you a price for the current month with some kind of indication of how much the price is likely to drop each month up until your new car arrives. Any part-exchange price will be subject to a physical appraisal at a later date and so it is essential you are accurate with the information you provide.

It's worth bearing in mind that you are likely to receive significantly more for your car if you sell it privately, so you may want to try and sell your car privately first, using a part-exchange as a last resort. We are more than happy to give advice on the best way to sell your existing car, although we cannot provide a valuation service.

Which Dealer will my car be sourced from?
In order to secure such competitive discounts, we are normally required to concentrate our orders through 1 principal Dealer per Manufacturer. Therefore it is unlikely that we will be using your local Dealer to supply the vehicle.

Will I be able to speak to the Dealer directly?
During the course of your enquiry we will give you an indication of where the Dealer is located. Once you have agreed to proceed and have returned a signed vehicle order to us, we will pass a copy to the Dealer and they will normally contact you within 24 hours to confirm your order. The Dealer will become your principal point of contact from there, although we're always on hand to assist.

Who will my contract be with, Motorlogix or the Dealer?
By signing our vehicle order form you are effectively agreeing to purchase the car from our nominated Dealer and that you will pay Motorlogix a sourcing fee. However the contract for the supply of the vehicle will be between you and the Dealer. You may wish to familiarise yourself with our Terms & Conditions before progressing with an order.

How much deposit will I be required to pay? ...and who to?
Most of our Dealers will require you to place a deposit to secure your order. This will typically range from £500 to £1000 depending on the vehicle. In some cases, where the vehicle is over a certain price or if the specification you have requested is unusual, the Dealer may require you to pay a higher deposit. All vehicle deposits are paid direct to our Dealer/supplier and can be paid in cash or on a credit card.

Why do Motorlogix charge a fee?
All brokers charge a fee for their service. Some hide their fee and inflate the price of the car while others retain some of the discount from the Dealer in the form of a kickback. We prefer to be more transparent with our pricing and are happy for you to see what we are earning from your order. The fee covers the cost of running our business and the time we put into managing your order.

What is the Motorlogix fee?
We vary the fee from vehicle to vehicle to ensure it relates to the overall cost of the vehicle and the discount we can offer you. You can see the fee relating to any vehicle by clicking on your chosen vehicle within the vehicle results page. Typically our fee ranges from £150 to £350 plus VAT.

When will I be required to pay the Motorlogix fee?
Our fee is normally due when you place your order. However, we understand if you would prefer to wait until we have put you in touch with the supplying Dealer, before arranging payment of our fee. Your vehicle will not be released by the Dealer until you pay the Motorlogix fee.

Is the Motorlogix fee refundable?
We recognise that customers can and sometimes do change their mind. However, a lot of work goes into both the management of our Dealer/Manufacturer relationships and your vehicle order. Furthermore when we arrange for a Dealer to order a vehicle (whether from stock or from the factory) we are asking them to commit to bringing that vehicle into their stock and to pay for it. In the event that a customer cancels a vehicle order the Dealer may be left with an unwanted car and they may seek compensation from Motorlogix. Therefore regrettably in the event that a customer cancels their order, the Motorlogix Sourcing Fee will not be refunded.

When will I be required to pay for the car in full?
The Dealer will need to have cleared funds before they will release the car to you. If you are collecting the car then you may want to hand over a bankers draft on the day, but you will need to provide details of the draft ahead of time, so they can check it with the issuing bank. Alternatively you may prefer to pay the money directly into the Dealer's account by electronic transfer - just allow a few days for the transfer to clear.

If you are purchasing the vehicle on finance then the funds will still need to have cleared in the Dealer's account before the car will be released. We normally advise customers to allow at least a week between returning the signed finance docs back to the lender and the Dealer receiving cleared funds.

Can I pay the Dealer in cash?
Laws designed to prevent money-laundering restrict the amount you can pay in cash to £7000. You can however pay with a Switch or Debit card up to the limit agreed with your bank.

Do I have to collect the car from the Dealer? With the exception of a few brands, our prices assume you will collect the car from the supplying Dealer/Supplier's normal trading address. If you would prefer to have the car delivered our Dealers will of course be more than happy to quote you for driven or transported delivery, based on mileage.

Will my car have a proper warranty?
Yes, your car is a UK car being supplied via a UK Franchised Dealer and so it must come with the Manufacturer's full standard warranty

Will I be able to take my new car to my local Dealer for servicing or repairs?
Yes, your warranty entitles you to have your vehicle serviced or repaired at any Manufacturer approved garage.

Do I have to get my car serviced by a Main Dealer?
We would always recommend you have your car serviced by a Main Dealer, at least during the life of the warranty. However, EU legislation requires manufacturers to enable independent service operations to gain approval to service or repair their vehicles. If you plan to use an independent garage then check they are approved by your vehicle's manufacturer to ensure your warranty is not invalidated. If in doubt stick to a Franchised Main Dealer.

How long is my Warranty?
Most warranties are for 3 years or 60,000 miles whichever is the sooner. However some manufacturers have now increased this to a 3 year unlimited mileage warranty, while other Manufacturers have introduced a 5 year Warranty as standard. We recommend you check with your respective Manufacturer.

What if I have a problem?
If you have a problem relating to your enquiry or your order, then we want to know. Please call our team on 0845 230 3225 and they will endeavour to resolve any queries or problems you have. We want your purchase to be an enjoyable process, so we're always available to help you.

If you have a problem with your car then we would suggest the easiest thing to do is contact your local Franchised Dealer for assistance. Any mechanical or component failure should be covered by warranty and they can carry out the repairs for you.

If you have any more serious concerns relating to your car then you may wish to contact our supplying Dealer. Failing that we are always happy for you to call us for our advice.
